Trader Sum ("the App") is built so that your trading data stays on your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.
Trader Sum has no backend server that stores your trades, balances, account credentials, or broker connections. Everything you enter — trade history for both your Live and Demo journals, starting balance, account email/password, connected-broker credentials, settings — is saved using your device's local app storage or, where noted below, your device's Keychain. We cannot see, access, back up, or recover this data on your behalf, because we never receive it.
| Data | Where it lives | Sent anywhere? |
|---|---|---|
| Trade entries, notes, balances (Live & Demo) | Local device storage, mirrored to Keychain | No |
| Account email / password / login state | Local device storage, mirrored to Keychain | No |
| Broker credentials or API keys (if you connect a broker) | Device Keychain only | Sent directly from your device to that broker's own servers, to authenticate and fetch your fills — never to us |
| Imported broker CSV files | Processed in-app, then discarded | No — never uploaded |
| Voice note audio | Processed on-device by Apple's Speech framework | No — transcription happens on-device; only the resulting text ever leaves the audio pipeline |
| Dictated note text (only if you add your own Anthropic API key) | — | Sent to Anthropic's API, using your own key, to clean up punctuation and filler words — never to us, and never sent at all unless you add a key |
| Shareable trade-card images | Generated on-device, then discarded | Only if you choose to send/post it yourself, via your device's share sheet |
| Currency codes (e.g. "USD", "CAD") for the converter | — | Sent to a third-party exchange-rate API to fetch current rates |
| Google account info (only if you use "Continue with Google") | Processed locally after Google's own sign-in step | Sent to Google as part of the sign-in flow itself, per Google's terms |
| Apple ID info (only if you use "Sign in with Apple") | Processed locally after Apple's own sign-in step | Sent to Apple as part of the sign-in flow itself, per Apple's terms |
| Subscription payment details | — | Handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your payment information |
If you connect a supported broker (currently Tradovate, with additional brokers planned), your broker credentials or API key are stored only in your device's Keychain — the same secure, encrypted storage iOS uses for passwords — and are never transmitted to us or stored on any server we operate. When the App syncs, it contacts the broker's servers directly from your device using that stored credential; the resulting fills are written straight into your local journal. Disconnecting a broker in Settings removes its credential from Keychain immediately.
Tapping the microphone in a trade note uses Apple's on-device Speech framework to turn your speech into text — that transcription happens entirely on your device and is never sent anywhere by us. If you choose to also add your own Anthropic API key in Settings, the raw transcript of that one note is sent directly from your device to Anthropic's API — using your key, billed to your own Anthropic account — to fix punctuation and remove filler words before it's inserted into your note. This step is entirely optional: without a key added, cleanup never runs and nothing about your dictated notes ever leaves your device. Removing the key in Settings stops this immediately.
The App calls a small number of third-party services to function:
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, because we do not collect or hold it in the first place. The one exception is data you choose to hand to a third party yourself — for example, sending a broker credential to that broker to connect it, sending a dictated note to Anthropic's API after adding your own key, or sharing a trade-card image you generated through your device's own share sheet.
Your data lives in your device's local app storage and, for login state and your journals, is also mirrored into your device's Keychain so an accidental app deletion doesn't wipe out your work — Keychain entries are not erased by an ordinary app uninstall, and reinstalling the App restores them automatically. Clearing the App's storage through your device settings removes the local copy but not the Keychain backup.
To fully erase everything, including the Keychain backup: erase all content and settings on your device (which clears Keychain along with everything else), or contact us at the email below and we will guide you through removing it. Disconnecting a broker, or removing your Anthropic API key, in Settings immediately deletes that credential from Keychain, independent of the rest of your data. Use the App's CSV export feature before removing data you want to keep a copy of.
Trade and account data sits in your device's local app storage or Keychain; broker credentials and any Anthropic API key you add are Keychain-only. Because none of this leaves your device (aside from the limited, direct third-party connections described above), its security depends on your device's own security — passcode, encryption at rest, and keeping iOS up to date. We recommend keeping your device's operating system current and using a device passcode.
Trader Sum is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Because all of your data lives on your own device, you are always in control of it: you can export it (CSV), edit or delete individual trades in-app, disconnect a broker or remove your Anthropic API key to stop that connection, or erase everything as described in Section 7.
Since there is no server-side storage, your data is not transferred across borders by us — it simply stays on your device, wherever that device is, aside from the direct-to-broker, direct-to-Anthropic, and sign-in connections you initiate yourself.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
